Has Black Sabbath performed for the last time?
Geezer Butler thinks so, but he's also not about to close the book on the band's career.
"If it came up, I wouldn't say never," the bassist told Classic Rock magazine. "I can't imagine it ever happening, but then I said that about the Sabbath tour, and it happened, so who am I to know?"
Earlier this week, Butler and guitarist Tony Iommi returned to their hometown of Birmingham, England, as the town celebrated Black Sabbath's 50th anniversary by renamed a local bridge after the band.
Butler says he and the Iommi keep in touch, and he's seen Iommi and co-founding drummer Bill Ward at a few events this year.
While he hasn't spoken to Ozzy Osbourne lately, he says that doesn't mean there's bad blood.
"It's like having brothers," he said of his relationship with his Black Sabbath band mates. "You don't have to be in touch."
Osbourne and Iommi have both suggested that, if possible, they would explore reforming Black Sabbath for the 2020 Commonwealth Games, which will take place in Birmingham.
Osbourne himself recently said that he would like the band's final shows to be with Ward playing drums.
