The Strokes "Honored" To Play Bernie Sanders Rally In February

Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders Holds New Year's Eve Campaign Rally In Des Moines

The Strokes are making a rare presidential endorsement, agreeing to perform at the 'Get Out the Vote Concert Rally' in Durham, New Hampshire, February 10, in support of Bernie Sanders.

"We are honored to be associated with such a dedicated, diligent, & trustworthy patriot—and fellow native New Yorker," front man Julian Casablancas said in a statement. "As the only truly non-corporate candidate, Bernie Sanders represents our only chance to overthrow corporate power and help return America to democracy. This is why we support him."

Sanders' campaign announced The Strokes participation in the rally Wednesday morning.

The Strokes aren't the only alt-rock legends to throw their support behind Sanders. Bon Iver is supporting the candidate at a rally Friday in Clive, Iowa.

Then Vampire Weekend is scheduled to perform an acoustic set for Sanders in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Saturday.

The Strokes confirmed earlier this month that their first new album in seven years will arrive in 2020.

The band recently announced more North American tour dates as well.
