Los Angeles has its 1st electric scooter DUI prosecution

Click Here For More StoryOn Aug 1st, 28-year-old Nicholas Kauffroath had a blood alcohol content more than 3x the legal limit while operating a Bird scooter. Kauffroath knocked over a 64-year-old pedestrian causing a knee abrasion while the man scooted on. He pleaded no contest to operating a motorized scooter under the influence and hit-and-run. He was charged 550$ ordered to pay restitution, placed on 36 months of probation and ordered to complete a DUI program.
