Ann-Christine Langselius was taking a walk with her dog at Lake Lily Park. When she was on the dock she saw an otter run at her then attack her. She says the otter bit her right Achilles tendon and hung on when she ran away. The woman received “several” rabies shots and said she is unable to walk due to the severe bites. She said she did not provoke the otter and the animal seemed ill. This attacked happened after officials had previously warned locals about an "aggressive” otter in the area. The otter was shot and killed and determined to have rabies. Police did shoot an otter after the attack and the woman thinks it was the same otter that bit her.
