In British Columbia, 76-year-old Warren Zant went to interesting lengths to try and get his marriage annulled…by using another woman to pose as his wife “over a remote audio connection” in court in hopes of “denying his ex-wife his pension benefits.”
- Warren married his wife, Gina, in 1999, but separated two decades later with an agreement that she would receive benefits from his pension plan.
- Last November, Warren was involved in a virtual court hearing, where “he appeared by telephone claiming his ex-wife was also in the room with him.”
- During that hearing, Warren said he and Gina could never have been legally married because she wasn’t “divorced from her ex-husband.”
- The judge accepted the terms, with Gina’s “signature” on relevant documents, but never requested “proof” that the woman on the phone was Gina.
- Then, Gina got wind of what was going on, when a pension administrator called her with an update.
- Gina then reached out to the judge, who “reassessed” his decision.
Now, all involved parties will reunite in court in January to celebrate the New Year.
