True crime fans are paying close attention to new developments in the lawsuit by Gabby Petito’s family against the family of Brian Laundrie. His parents are trying to block the release of a letter his mother wrote to him. Their lawyer filed a motion yesterday in Florida in response to a request by Gabby Petito's parents to have the letter used as evidence in a civil trial. The letter Roberta Laundrie wrote to her son is marked "burn after reading," but Roberta claims that has nothing to do with Gabby's disappearance. She writes in the motion that she wrote the letter before Brian and Gabby started the cross-country trip in which Gabby died. The letter contains an offer by Roberta to “bring a shovel to help bury the body.” The letter was found in Brian’s backpack near his body.
