PornHub Blocks Access For Citizens Of Arkansas

There’ll be no PornHub for the good citizens of Arkansas. In reaction to the state’s new law requiring age verification for users of adult content, PornHub has decided to block all IP addresses originating from the state. Instead of the porn they’re craving, visitors will instead see a statement from the website explaining the decision. It says that “safety and compliance are at the forefront of our mission,” but “giving your ID card every time you want to visit an adult platform isn’t the most effective solution for protecting our users, and in fact, will put children and your privacy at risk.” A similar law in Louisiana resulted in PornHub’s traffic dropping 80% in that state….people didn’t stop looking for porn, they just “went to other, more dangerous websites.” In Arkansas, the age verification process requires “digitized ID cards, a government-issued ID, or any commercially reasonable age verification method.”
