A man in Argentina had the shock of his life after purchasing two poodles, only to later find out they were rodents pumped with steroids.
The unidentified man, of Catacarma, Argentina, spent $150 on what he believed to be gorgeous toy poodles, but turned out to be ferrets pumped with drugs.
The individual was duped by the knock-down price for a pedigree dog and became suspicious he had bought what Argentinians call a 'Brazilian rat' and when he returned home took the 'dogs' to a vet for their vaccinations.
He had in fact purchased two ferrets that had been given steroids at birth to increase their size and then had some extra grooming to make their coats resemble a fluffy toy poodle, confirming his suspicions.
It comes as social media users have debated back and forth over the saga of the 'fake' sun bear in China, which has caused quite the stir online.
The incident in Argentina was part of a wider occurrence, which saw gullible bargain hunters at the country's largest bazaar spend hundreds of dollars for what they believed to be gorgeous toy poodles, only to discover they had purchased what was in fact a ferret pumped up on steroids.
