A 75-year-old man in Florida didn’t take anything after rummaging through a docked boat, but he did leave something behind: His excrement.
Michael Paul Wierzbicki Sr. can be seen on surveillance footage getting onto a boat in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday, Sept. 17, while its owner slept, the Punta Gorda Police Department said.
After being called to the scene of a reported burglary at the Laishley Park Marina on Sunday, officers say the victim told them an older man was caught on their boat’s cameras rifling through their belongings.
Police confirmed the victim’s accusations by reviewing the provided footage. The boat owner also told police that the suspect pooped on the boat and dock during his burglary attempt and confirmed when officers reviewed security footage, WBBH News reports.
The victim also pointed out that the suspected burglar, Wierzbicki, was still at the crime scene and was sitting on one of the benches at the marina. Wierzbicki was then arrested and taken to the Charlotte County Jail.
While Wierzbicki was at the jail, officers say they received another call about a previous burglary of an unoccupied car a few blocks from the marina. When they arrived, officers met another victim who described their stolen items.
The described stolen items were in Wierzbicki’s possession when he was arrested for the boat burglary, police say.
The 75-year-old man is now facing two counts of unarmed burglary of an occupied conveyance and one count of theft in the first degree.
Punta Gorda is located in Southwest Florida about 24 miles north of Fort Myers.
