Just in time for spooky season, the “Saw” is back with its tenth entry into the franchise…”Saw X.” Roll your eyes if you wanna…but the reviews are looking solid for this torture-porn gore-fest. Currently, it has an 81% fresh critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
THE GOOD
“None of this would work nearly as well without Tobin Bell, whose raspy voice and menacing gravitas are so riveting that he makes Jigsaw’s oft-repeated declaration “I’d like to play a game” scary as hell.” (Hollywood Reporter)
- “Defying all odds, the 10th Saw film might be the best one yet. By finally putting Jigsaw as the lead, it feels the franchise has found its stride again. It has all the nasty traps a Saw fan wants, but also the strongest story and characters.” (Sean Chandler)
- “Bell, with his real presence and distinctive raspy voice, finally gets to hold the center in SAW X, which probably gives him more screen time than all the other SAWs combined.” (Rue Morgue Magazine)
THE BAD
- “Two decades on from the short that started everything, X must surely mark the spot Jigsaw finally rests in pieces.” (Total Film)
- “It’s an exhausted final squeeze of blood from a stone.” (Fiction Magazine)
- “It is the best Saw movie, but that's like being the smartest Kardashian.” (Fish Jelly Films)
