Four Men Arrested for Stealing $6 Million Gold Toilet

In 2016, New York’s Guggenheim Museum gave visitors the opportunity to do their business in an 18-karat-gold, fully functional, toilet that was worth upwards of $6 million. It was an “interactive exhibit” called “America” created by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. By the time the exhibit closed, over 100K people had waited in line to see, and possibly use, the show piece, before it was moved to its new home at Blenheim Palace in Great Britain…and eventually stolen in 2019. Now, after years of arrests but no charges sticking, four men have been arrested and charged with stealing the gilded crapper, and are due to face those charges in court later this month. The fate of the toilet, however, is still unknown.
