No More Animatronics for Most Chuck E. Cheese Locations

With the exception of one of the chain’s 550 locations, Chuck E. Cheese is doing away with the musical animatronics. Though not thought to be related, the announcement comes three weeks after the release of “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” a horror film where the animatronic characters in a similar-themed pizza joint come to life and wreak bloody havoc. Reps for Chuck E. Cheese say the chain is working on “renovations, with updated features and options for all ages,” including a “state-of-the-art dance floor, giant video wall and screens, kid-focused arcade games, and new trampoline zones” in “select locations across the country.” If seeing a creepy animatronic band play is still your goal, you’ll have to go to Northridge, California to visit that lone location.
