Zoo officials were concerned that a bird had carried away newly born meerkat. it had just been weaned away from its mother. It wasn't a bird. a 21-year-old man has been charged with stealing the meerkat, as well as a 23 & 31-year-old woman. Prosecutors told the court that the man and woman were at the zoo for about two hours before the man took the meerkitten. He allegedly placed the animal in his personal cooler bag and when he was in the car, he played loud music to muffle its distressed cries.
