A woman, who was in a coma for 14 years started moaning on December 29th and staff was unsure what was going on. It wasn't until a nurse entered her room and saw that a babies head was crowning did the staff know she was pregnant. The facilities website says they serve infants, children and young adults who are “medically fragile” or have developmental disabilities. A victim advocate with the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence said it would be appropriate for police to run DNA tests on male employees at the facility.
The woman was a victim of a near-drowning more than 10 years ago. Her identity was not reported and was not immediately known if she has family or a guardian.
The baby was said to be alive and healthy.
