Witnesses say a woman got into a garbage chute and fell 16 stories. She landed in the garbage collection area where rescue workers found her. She was taken to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital with "life-threatening" injuries. The woman was not a resident of the building and sustained head injuries. A Fire & Rescue spokes person said “I can say there was a mental health component involved."The woman was reported to be in her late 20's. It was not known how she got in the building or why she entered the chute.
