Old Barbies & Matchbox Cars To Become New Toys As Part Of Takeback Program

Tired of your kids' unused toys laying around collecting dust and taking up too much space in your home? Mattel toy company has your problems solved! All while being environmentally friendly.

The toy company has just launched what they’re calling Mattel PlayBack, a toy take-back program that will extend the life of unused and outgrown toys, and provides a way to keep the materials out of landfills.

The free service allows parents to send in the old toys and Mattel will then use the materials from those used toys for future Mattel products. Any material that can’t be used will either be downcycled or converted from waste to energy.

The company hopes by 2030 to be using 100% recycled, recyclable or bio-based plastic materials across all products and packaging.
