1600-Pound Shark Spotted Off Florida Coast

Florida is welcoming an unlikely spring breaker. A great white shark has been recorded swimming off the Gulf Coast. "Scot" was first tagged and released by non-profit marine group OCEARCH in September 2021 in Nova Scotia. His electronic tag pings every time it breaks the surface, allowing it to record his nearly four-thousand journey down the East Coast. Scot covered the distance in just under 120 days. While the adult male is a 12-feet long and weighs 16-hundred pounds, he poses little threat to humans. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says humans are more likely to get stuck by lightning in the state than recreating the plot of "Jaws."
