Police officers were trying to help a drunk man inside the 149th Street Grand Concourse station Saturday night and noticed a long metal object going down his leg. The man, Melvin Montoya, allegedly reached for the object when officers started to frisk him; it turned out to be a crude, homemade gas-operated one-shot rifle. Montoya was arrested for possession of a disguised gun and for carrying a gun as a convicted felon.
