A Utah woman who wrote a kid's book on dealing with death grief, is looking at doing time for the death of her husband. Back in March of 2022, Kouri Richins called the police when she found her husband cold on the floor of their bedroom. Authorities came out and attempted life saving efforts, but were unsuccessful. That's when an investigation into the death was started. Kouri told police that she and her husband Eric were celebrating the closing of a house for her business. She said she made him a Moscow Mule and served it to him in bed, but fell asleep in her kids room because they were having a night terror, and when she returned to the room, he was cold to the touch and that's when she called 9-1-1. She says she didn't have her phone on her while she was in her kid's room, but detectives found out that it had been opened several times during that period. Eventually detectives found out that she had been in contact with a person looking for fentanyl. According to reports, Eric had died from an overdose of fentanyl with a level that was five times the lethal dose, and that the drugs had been taken orally. Eventually they connected the dots, and found that Kouri had indeed been poisoning her husband since December of 2021. Her book titled "Are You With Me" was published just a few days after the year anniversary of Eric's death. She's been charged with criminal homicide\aggravated murder and three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent.
