In North Carolina, two folks were accused of stealing nearly 600 Venus Flytraps from a local nature conservancy back in February. According to reports, officers responded to a call on February 13th about two people digging for flytraps at a place called Boiling Spring Lakes. They found the suspects at a nearby gas station, and when they searched their backpacks, they found 590 Venus Flytraps they harvested illegally. According to North Carolina state law, anyone who digs up, pulls up, takes, or carries away, or aids in the taking or carrying away of a Venus flytrap is a Class H felony.
