About 27 years ago, Omar Bin Omran disappeared in the Algerian city of Djelfa. His family thought that he’d been killed in the civil war that had been raging for a decade between the country’s government and various Islamist rebel groups. It turns out the truth was less than 200 meters away from the family’s home. Omar, now 45-years-old, was found…alive…in “what appeared to be a hole in the ground, beneath what was described as a sheep pen, within the home of his alleged captor,” a 61-year-old neighbor who’s now in police custody.
