Oklahoma is proving to be a hotbed for softball.

Not only did the Oklahoma Sooners become five-time national softball champions earlier this year, but now the next generation is stepping up to the plate.

Team Oklahoma - based out of Muskogee - will take on a team from Chesterfield, Virginia, in the Little League Softball World Series Championship on Wednesday, August 18.

"That was a pretty complete game that we just did today and hopefully tomorrow we got another one in us. That's a good team over there and we're fortunate to come out with a win today. It's great, but we got one more to go, we're still not finished," head coach Johnny Hutchens told News On 6.

The 12-and-under team got here by going undefeated through the tournament and eliminating Missouri on Tuesday with a 7-0 win.

The championship game between Oklahoma and Virginia will be broadcast on ESPN at 4 p.m. Central. The team has the chance of becoming the first team from Oklahoma to win the championship is state history.

On the Little League Baseball side, a Pennsylvania judge tossed out Team Tulsa's lawsuit to rejoin the tournament on Tuesday, KJRH reported. Team Tulsa was eliminated from the competition earlier this month after a team manager tested positive for COVID-19.
