Major League Baseball legend and FOX Sports analyst Alex Rodriguez revealed that he once told Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to play baseball instead of football during his appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Sunday (October 26) night.
Fallon showed a photo of a 10-year-old Mahomes with Rodriguez when the quarterback's father was his teammate on the Texas Rangers, with the three-time American League All-Star claiming that the younger Mahomes would ask for his advice every day during the Rangers' Spring Training session.
"The last day, I said, 'I'm gonna give you some good advice here, listen up,'" Rodriguez told Fallon. "And his eyes got really wide, and I lowered my voice and I said, 'I know you like baseball, and I know you like football, but trust me when I say this: baseball is where the money is.' I said, 'Football is just for fun, but you're gonna make your money in baseball like your dad and I.' And I'm glad he didn't take my advice."
Mahomes, instead, pursued football and is now the face of the NFL having led the Chiefs to three Super Bowl victories in a five-year span, while also winning two NFL MVP awards. The former Texas Tech standout enters Kansas City's Monday Night Football game against the Washington Commanders with 1,800 yards, 14 touchdowns and two interceptions on 164 of 248 passing, while also recording 250 yards and four touchdowns on 42 rushing attempts.
