What do you do with fine china? Are you supposed to bring it out for the holidays or something? I never got any at my wedding. We didn't need it. But I was curious. I know my mom and dad had it when I was growing up. They would keep it wrapped in paper, and in a box inside a cabinet. One day "Exploring" the house when the parents were out somewhere, when they came home we asked them what it was and if we could use it. They told all 3 of us to "keep our hands off of it, and leave it alone." So what do you need plates and cups for that you're not going to use?
I found out that the average person waits almost 30 years before using special occasion items! Is this where our clutter habits started? Our parents did it, so maybe that's why we do it with our things?
There was a survey done and it found 48% worry about damage and 45% find the items impractical for daily use, which is why it's stored away...somewhere...for 30+ years. I think it's a waste of space, and with a family of 3 total in my house, that stuff would have been gone years ago.
Do you have "Special China" you use every once in a while? Or are you on my side and say why keep something you'll never use. At least for a long time.
