How Many Steps Do You Really Need A Day To Lose Weight?

It's time to start thinking about your "Summer Body" and get ready for that vacation or time at the pool. If you're like my wife and it makes you feel sore, exercise habits are hard to come by. They say you need 10k steps a day to drop those lbs for summer, but that sounds like a lot. What if I told you it could be way less than that?

A study of over 3700 people found that reaching approximately 8,500 daily steps during weight loss programs helps people keep pounds off. Less than 10,000 steps, so that makes it easier when you take a step back and look at the whole picture. But just walking less steps isn't all you need to do. Researchers say the early results come primarily from cutting calories rather than exercise. So you can't eat what you want, walk less and lose weight. Sorry, facts. But we're talking about your summer body and you're worth it.

The same people who did this research also say this figure represents a preliminary benchmark, not clinical prescription, requiring further study for definitive recommendations.

But make a plan, stick to it, and get ready for pool season.
