A family wanted to celebrate their songs graduation from High School with a Sheet Cake. Jacob graduated with a 4.79 GPA and was ready to head to college. His mother ordered a cake online through the local grocers website. When she entered the phrase Summa Cum Laude, the websites algorithm and flagged the phrase replacing it with Summa --- Laude. The word in question is Latin for 'With'. The phrase is commonly used for students who are in the top 1-5% of their class. Jacob says the whole thing is embarrassing and humiliating: "I had to explain to my friends and family … what that meant. They were giggling uncontrollably." The grocery store offered to redo the cake, but the party was over, so they returned the $70 for the cake and a gift card to the grocer.
