67-year-old Margaret Reynolds was sunbathing on the jersey shore when a gust of wind lifted the umbrella and speared her through the ankle. A fire chief had to use bolt cutters to cut the woman free, and she was taken to the hospital. A police spokesperson said "due to the force of the wind" the spike was driven entirely through her ankle. A fellow beach goer had posted pictures of the scene on instagram. The police chief said "I understand the woman is doing well. She had the part removed and I don't believe she has any long-standing injuries."
