Police were called to the Southers Marsh Golf Club in Massachusetts after a report of an altercation between two golfers. When police arrived they found a 47-year-old man bit the thumb of another man. The thumb was bitten off to the knuckle. Apparently two foursomes had got into an altercation and it is unclear what the argument was about or if alcohol was involved. The 47-year-old was arrested and charged with mayhem. In Massachusetts, mayhem means the “malicious intent to maim or disfigure," and the charge carries up to 20 years in prison.
