A Southwest Airlines flight heading from Sacramento International Airport to Los Angeles had been delayed on the tarmac when the incident took place. A maintenance light had come on and the plane was told it would be delayed again. A few hours into the delay, flight attendants were handing out water when the man made the joke to one of the flight attendants. He said something to the effect that they should be handing out vodka instead of water since they've been delayed for so long. The comment upset the flight attendant. She told passengers that she has been on the flight just as long as they had been and that they would have to deal with it. She then made a call to the cockpit and they turned back to the gate and the man was removed from the flight. He was not arrested.
