Man calls 911 after being impaled by two-inch fence post

25-year-old Jake Tabor was driving just 50 miles north of Houston around 4am when he struck a deer and lost control of his car. He crashed into a fence and was impaled in the abdomen by a two-inch pole. Tabor was able to call 911 himself and was conscious when first responders arrived. It took firefighters 30 minutes to get Tabor out of the truck as they were forced to cut the fence off to get access to him. According to his GoFundMe page, he underwent surgery and is now in stable condition but is expected to have several more surgeries to “reconstruct several organs that were damaged from the fence post.” Tabor is in the ICU where he is expected to have 6 months of recovery.
