In California last Wednesday, boarder patrol agents stopped a tractor trailer hauling what was said to be fresh spinach...what they found wasn't Popeye's favorite food. During the inspection at the boarder, officers had the truck hauling the load go through the port's X-ray system, and that's when they found out there was more than just fresh spinach on the truck. Officers had the driver pull over for further inspection, and that's when the dogs got a hit on what was inside. Inside the officers found 127 wrapped packages of meth mixed in with the produce. The meth bundles were wrapped in green tape with pictures of spinach leaves. After weighing the drugs, they had more than 580 pounds of meth worth $1.3 million. Officers seized the truck, trailer, and drugs, and the 49 year old Mexican driver is now in custody for suspicion of drug smuggling.
