The city of Burlington, VT wants things to quiet down a bit. The city council passed a phased in ban this week mandating moving to electric leaf blowers. They say according the CDC a gas powered blower operates at 90 db, which can cause hearing damage after two hours of exposure, along with the air pollution they contribute to. They say that electric blowers run at 65 db which is about as loud as a washing machine. The city wants all businesses and residents to comply by May 2022.
