A suspect who was being held in the Franklin County Jail in Mississippi on allegations of shooting his five-year-old daughter has apparently committed suicide. Samuel Scott Jr. was facing charges of aggravated assault and felony child abuse. Corrections officers found him unresponsive inside his jail cell early Thursday morning. Officers report he had fatally hanged himself with a sheet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
