In Colorado, a man decided to go on a walk on Mt. Elbert around 9am on October 18th and his friends called authorities when they hadn't heard back from him at 8 in the evening. About 9:30 am the next day, he called the agency and said that he had found his car and got back to his friends. When asked why he didn't answer their calls, he said he thought they were spam calls because he didn't recognize the number. The search and rescue team said if you're overdue on your itinerary and you start getting repeated calls from an unknown number, to answer it, it may be them checking to see if you're safe.
