Man Charged, Fired After Viral Smoothie Shop Incident

A Connecticut man is charged with a hate crime after he threw a beverage at a smoothie shop employee and made a racial remark. Police say James Iannazzo of Fairfield was irate over being given a beverage with peanut butter Saturday and began berating staff at Robeks Smoothies. A video that's been seen more than 14-million times shows Iannazzo throwing the drink at a young female worker, who he then called an "immigrant loser." Iannazzo faces charges that include intimidation based on bigotry or bias and assault. He was also fired from his job at Merrill Lynch over what happened. Iannazzo later apologized, saying his son, who has a peanut allergy, had a serious allergic reaction after drinking the smoothie.
