Late last month Douglas County Deputy Michael Gregorek arrived on the scene of a car fire, and inside the car was the family dog...Hank. The deputy can see smoke pouring from the car as the owner frantically yells that the dog is inside. The quick thinking deputy pulls out his retractable baton and busts one window to no avail. He then goes to the back of the car and busts the back window out, and there's Hank. After removing Hank from the car. the neighbor told the deputy that his wife was a vet and could help, but by the time she got there Hank was running around happy to not be in a car that's on fire. Deputy Gregorek is a dog parent who says that's his only child so he would've dome the same thing if it were a human, a dog, or cat. "A life is a life, and you kind of treat it as such in a situation like that."
