An Arkansas man who spent 19 years in a coma before regaining consciousness is dead at age 57. Terry Wallis was in a car accident in 1984 that left him in a coma. He was left minimally conscious before he suddenly started talking in 2003, believing no time had passed. He became known as "The Man Who Slept For 19 Years." Doctors credited regular visits and outings with his family as the stimulation that let to his awakening period. He was left a quadriplegic as a result of the crash, but his obituary noted that he loved live music and drinking Pepsi prior to his death.
