Mark Fleischman, former owner of the popular 70s and 80s nightclub Studio 54 in New York, says he will be dying by assisted suicide next month. Neurologists have been unable to diagnose the illness that now leaves Fleischman confined to a wheelchair, unable to take care of himself and barely able to speak. The 82-year-old will work with the Swiss non-profit group Dignitas to take a lethal dose of medication on July 13th in Europe. Studio 54 was a regular for entertainers and one of the most exclusive clubs in the world during operation, with Fleischman taking over from 1978 until it closed in 1986.
