A man who was cleared of four killings after spending eight years in prison gave his neighbors 25-thousand in gas this week. Cars lined up at a gas station in Detroit after Davontae Sanford put up 25-thousand dollars to help elderly people and women because, he said, the city had his back. He said he wanted to help "vulnerable" groups. In March, the Detroit City Council agreed to pay Sanford seven-point-five million dollars to settle claims that police violated his rights. Sanford pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2007 when he was 15, saying later he accepted a plea deal only because he had poor legal representation. His convictions were dropped in 2016 because of police misconduct.
