A child is hospitalized with serious injuries after being attacked by a bear in Alaska. State Troopers say the boy was hunting with a man Tuesday when they encountered a brown bear and her cub. Police say the bear attacked the 9 year old boy, causing serious head lacerations. The man managed to stop the attack by shooting and killing the bear, and a witness called 911 after seeing him carrying the boy, who was bleeding from the head. Alaska State Troopers say they will work with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game to perform a full investigation. The attack follows multiple reports of a bear that's been raiding chicken coops and hatcheries in the nearby town of Butte, killing dozens of birds over the course of several days.
