Do You Feel Like You Spend More Time In “Autopilot”?

Do you ever feel like you are doing the same thing day after day that you don’t even need to put any effort into it anymore? Well, apparently you are not alone.

A new British survey, which could easily translate here, finds:

  • 25% of people say they spend about five hours a day or more on “autopilot.”
  • In fact, the average person spends about 1,396 hours each year or 27 hours a week on autopilot, which translates to more than 10 years of their life.
  • Overall, 64% of people say there’s rarely anything different about their daily routine.
  • Some of the things that never change include:
    • Getting dressed at the same time of the day.
    • Showering at the same time of the day.
    • Eating the same breakfast each day.
  • 79% of people say because of this they feel “stuck in a rut.”
  • And that rut is stopping them from doing things they’ve always wanted to do, including:
    • Learning a new skill or craft.
    • Traveling the world
    • Starting a new career
    • Learning an instrument
    • Starting to invest
