A North Carolina woman is being charged with allegedly attempting to castrate her five-year-old stepson. Bracey Renee Byrd was taken into custody last week on charges of attempted murder, felony child abuse, malicious castration, and first-degree kidnapping. The investigation started after the boy was taken to the hospital with third degree burn and other injuries like bruises to his face, head and genitals. Byrd is being held on a two-million-dollar secured bond. The boy is still undergoing treatment for his injuries.
