The Texas Border Patrol says they caught someone trying to smuggle a backpack full of monkeys into the country. Border Patrol agents in Brownsville said Thursday that someone tried to sneak seven South American spider monkeys across the border at Fort Brown by hiding them inside a backpack. On Facebook, the agency called spider monkeys "critically endangered animals," and said the owner of the backpack has been arrested for suspected wildlife smuggling. The monkeys have been turned over to U.S. Fish and Wildlife for relocation.
