Man Tries to Rob Store with Snake

A man got popped recently after attempting to rob a gas station in Memphis using a live snake as a prop. Reginald Cook, 26, initially made a purchase at the Shell station before returning 30 minutes later to demand money from the register, prompting the cashier to believe he had a weapon. After the cashier refused to comply, Cook left, only to return 35 minutes later with a 5-foot live snake around his neck and a green backpack, threatening the cashier while reaching into the backpack. The cashier, fearing for his safety, called 911 and brandished his own firearm, leading to Cook's arrest without any money being taken or injuries sustained. Authorities found a railroad spike and rock inside Cook's backpack and confiscated the snake. He was arrested on two counts of attempted aggravated robbery with a bond set at $4,000.
