Since Christmas Day, a group of alleged squatters had staked a claim on a $500K home in Atlanta. Mel Keyton is the president of the Hampton Oaks Homeowners Association. He says the play for the squatters is to pretend like they’re buying the vacant home, even filling out the paperwork, but then they never pay…and they never leave. What finally did this group of six people in, however, was good old-fashioned greed. Reportedly, one of them realized that their neighbor was out of town, so they allegedly stole their car…and pulled it into the driveway of the squatted home. Other members of that same homeowners’ association say that it was the stolen car that finally allowed police to do something about it.
