A Grammy-winning Latin band is canceling concerts after it was threatened in Tijuana with a severed head. Mexican regional band Grupo Firme was scheduled to perform in Mazatlan on March 1st. A Mexican newspaper says the group canceled the show after a large banner appeared alongside a Tijuana highway on Tuesday threatening to kill the band members if they performed. Beside the banner was a box containing an unidentified human head. Authorities suspect the message came from a drug cartel. Mexican police say there have been a number of death threats against performing artists in recent years allegedly made by the cartels.
