Stealing is stealing whether it's nugs while you shop or diamonds. According to reports, back in 2022, 34 year old Matthew Gay from Pennsylvania would go into Walmart's jewelry counter and ask the cashier to see some of the diamond rings they had. While looking at one ring, he would ask them to see another, and while their back was turned, he would swap it out with a fake one. He did this enough times to total up to $7,362.50 worth of stolen diamonds. He eventually got caught and was to be sentenced in August of 2024 but fled the country and did the same thing elsewhere. After a warrant was issued, police finally caught up to Gay and arrested him. Now Gay has been found guilty of stealing seven diamond rings and faces eight years in the big house.
