A New Yorker is now charged with manslaughter and sex assault on a human corpse. Ronald Schroeder was previously indicted in 2024 for concealment of the victim's body. Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney says an autopsy determined that Schroeder committed a sexual assault while the 33-year-old woman was unconscious and then fell asleep on top of her, causing death by asphyxiation. The victim's body was found in a suitcase with her wrists and ankles bound with cord. If convicted, Schoeder could face 25 years in prison on the manslaughter charge alone.
