A Virginia family is suing a local funeral home after discovering maggots crawling over their loved one’s body during a scheduled viewing. In 2022, 24-year‑old Torreon Williams, who died in a car crash, was laid out at Snellings Funeral Home. During the open‑casket service, his family discovered maggots on his face, mouth and nose, along with holes in his cheek that hadn’t been there before. The family says the mortuary failed to refrigerate or properly prepare his remains, leaving the body vulnerable to infestation. Staff allegedly downplayed the incident, reportedly telling the mourners, “Don’t you make a scene,” and “Flies got to him”. Now, Williams’ mother is filing a $5 million lawsuit against Snellings Funeral Home and parent company Hollomon‑Brown, citing negligence, breach of contract, and emotional distress. The trial is set to begin July 28.
